Attract Recruiters to Your LinkedIn Profile

Build a professional profile to allow the possibilities of recruiters to reach out to you with job opportunities. In addition, your LinkedIn profile should accurately reflect your brand and help you expand your professional network and connect with people and businesses. When someone searches for a particular term, the higher the probability of identifying you.

Complete your profile

Complete all the sections of your profile, including a professional photo, headline, summary, and work experience.

Show up in searches

Use LinkedIn Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). LinkedIn SEO refers to how you write and use your profile to increase its ranking in search and, therefore, its visibility. LinkedIn uses an algorithm to select and order the results when a user searches for a keyword or phrase, and you can make the algorithm work for you. Create a list of 7-10 words or terms that a recruiter would use when searching for the service you offer. For example, Marketing specialist, communication expert, project management, etc., Use your keywords throughout your profile, including your headline, role descriptions, and skills endorsements.

Headline

Your headline can include professional history, qualifications, and personality.

Here is an example of a headline profile from a Baruch professor from the Communication for Executives class. In this section, describe what you do, then get more specific.

“I help people transform their work and lives through Conscious Communication | Communication Expert | Award-winning Lecturer | Learning and Development | Public Speaking and Communication Educator, Creator, and Speaker” Professor Gino Perrote.

Highlight achievements

In the experience section, do not list job duties; instead, focus on accomplishments. To demonstrate your impact, use quantifiable results.

Customize your URL

Edit your public profile to let other members, including recruiters, quickly find and identify you in search results. In addition, after you edit your URL, it is easier to share and remember.  Your automated URL is long and contains random numbers. An example of a standard URL (not optimized) is www.linkedin.com/samantha-ruiz/49038433. An example of a custom (optimized) URL is www.linkedin.com/samantha-ruiz-marketing-specialist/. Here are the steps to edit your public profile URL on your desktop, mobile, or browser.

Add skills

LinkedIn uses skills to rank profiles in its search algorithm. Add your skills to your LinkedIn profile. Skills include public speaking, leadership, Bilingue, communication, customer service, sales, management, etc.

Get recommendations

Recommendations can boost your credibility, as can testimonials from your fellow professionals or personal contacts. These recommendations serve as a way for your connections to vouch for your skills. Additionally, recommendations are personal endorsements from people who can attest to your abilities and work ethic. One crucial thing about recommendations is that they substantiate the information you provide on your profile, making it reliable and meaningful to potential employers.

Professional recommendations focus on your job-related skills, knowledge, experience, and achievements. Identify the appropriate people to request a recommendation. People that you should consider requesting recommendations from are former or current supervisors, colleagues, clients or customers, and mentors or professional peers.

Write on a topic that supports your brand

Write an article that helps others to see you as an expert in your professional area and publish it on LinkedIn. Here is an article you should check for tips.

Join groups

Join groups related to your interests, be active on your account, engage in conversations, and show that you are an expert in your industry. Moreover, groups allow you to connect with professionals in your field. Group discussions expose you to diverse perspectives and valuable insights. In addition, you can send members of the group direct messages.

Follow companies

Follow companies that you are interested in working for. The companies you follow communicate your interests, and you are more involved in topics related to your interests. Also, you will learn more about the companies of your interest, so when there is an open position, you will know more about the company. Recruits like to recruit employees who know their company. Many applicants need to learn about the company they want to apply to, and one of the easiest ways is by following the company.

Share content

Share articles that are relevant to the brand you are communicating through LinkedIn. The articles you post should be from credible sources. Keep in mind that quality is more important than quantity when it comes to sharing valuable content. Also, share consistently; consistency is key to building your brand and growing your audience.

Privacy Settings

Adjust privacy settings to let recruiters know you are open to job opportunities.

These tips can help you build a compelling LinkedIn profile that attracts recruiters and increases your chances of landing relevant job opportunities. Keep your profile up-to-date and engage with your network regularly.
